What is moonshine exactly?

Moonshine is by origin a self distilled, handcrafted spirit, made off the beaten track and full of character. At Doc Collins we keep that spirit alive. Our moonshine is distilled with care and forms the very base our whiskey grows out of. That is exactly why so many of our drinks carry the name moonshine whiskey: it is not a choice between one or the other, but two sides of the same craftsmanship. So in every bottle you taste the same honest, self distilled origin.

Because we distill everything ourselves, we can play with flavor. Think of the Honey-Vanilla Moonshine that opens with sweet honey before the full whiskey body rises, the Deadly Cherry with its deep cherry flavor and the fresh Apple Flavored Moonshine with a hint of vanilla. At around 26 percent alcohol they go down surprisingly smooth. Tip: warm the Apple Flavored Moonshine to just below 60 degrees, serve with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon for a real winter treat. Prefer it neat and bold? Then our Single Malt and Backwood Double Grain come fully into their own.
